NEW DELHI. New crop arrivals are slow in the spot markets. The fact that India failed to win a bid in the last tender came as a heavy blow to exporters.

 

The defeat of the year

Due to the high market prices tt was foreseeable that suppliers in India would not be able to win a large part of the sesame tender as normally is the case. It was not, however, not to be expected that exporters from China and Pakistan would be awarded the contract and that the outstanding volumes would simply be cancelled.

It is reported that South Korea will not launch another sesame tender this year. Instead a tender will be issued for delivery in the new year. Stocks in South Korea should suffice to bridge this perio
