Sesame seeds: smaller summer crop in 2024

NEW DELHI. Low demand and the imminent availability of the summer crop are preventing sesame seed prices from reaching a fixed level. A new tender is to provide support.

Huge tender to support prices

Indian sesame seed prices are still on a downward spiral and took another dive this week. First and foremost, there is a lack of demand. With the exception of tender sales, trade with domestic and foreign buyers is currently very moderate. 

With the arrival of the new crop, prices are coming under additional pressure, but Indian traders are hoping for support from the next tender from South Korea. A new tender is expected in around two weeks' time, through which the country would like to purchase a total of 12,000 mt of ses
