Soybeans: Beijing allegedly renounces higher tariffs

CHICAGO. In the U.S., soybeans became noticeably firmer. It is alleged that Beijing does not impose import duties on certain amounts of US soybeans and US pork meat.

In the USA, the soybean complex continued to grow. Washington and Beijing seem to be getting a little closer on the withdrawal of punitive tariffs. Beijing said they were going to waive import duties on certain volumes of US soybeans and pork as both sides try to get a trade agreement to defuse the trade war, said Paul Georgi, US broker for Allendale Inc. In November, China's trade exports declined for the fourth time in a row and were 1.1% below last year's level; exports to the USA even dropped by 23%, which shows the impact of the imposed US tariffs.
