Spice market update: cardamom prices drop significantly

Cumin

The demand for cumin, especially from overseas buyers, has increased noticeably. This is also pushing prices up. Market players believe that buying interest will not diminish in the coming days as less cumin has been sown and the spice is therefore in demand. Meanwhile, the mandi in Rajkot will remain closed for a few days due to heavy rains. Exports are doing satisfactorily: between January and July, India shipped 163,116 mt overseas, compared to 156,858 mt in the same period last year. Exports declined temporarily between May and July. TEHRAN. Traders in Iran report that monthly cumin exports have slumped by more than 90% in November 2021 as opposed to the same period in 2020. Issue is that prices in other producing countries such as India are far more attractive than in Iran. This has prompted a sharp shift in demand.
