Cumin

Prices on the Indian cumin market have fallen again, mainly because arrivals of the new crop are increasing rapidly. The large supply is pushing prices down, although the quality appears to be better than initially assumed. According to growers, yields this year were very high, which is likely to put pressure on prices in the longer term. While only around 420-450 kg/acre were harvested last year due to adverse weather conditions, this year the figure is expected to be a whopping 650-680 kg/acre.
