KYIV/DALIAN. In the European Commission's latest report, some adjustments have been made compared to last month's report. Overall, however, the result is once again in decline.

Larger acreage expected for 2025

At the end of October, the European Commission had estimated EU sunflower seed production at 8.17 million mt. In the November report, EU-wide production was then cut again – to just 8.068 million mt. Compared to last year, production has so far fallen by 17.7%. Contrary to last month's report, the crop estimates for Hungary (+2.1%) and Bulgaria (+2.7%) were raised again slightly, while production in France (-4.9%), Spain (+1.5%) and above all Italy (-12.5%) is likely to have been lower than initially assumed.
