SOFIA. The rain in the last few days was too late to have any noticeable impact. There are, however, delays in the north of Bulgaria.

Delays cause concerns

The wet fields are making it rather difficult to complete the harvest in some regions. Towards the end of the month the weather is, however, set to improve, which should result in a faster progress.

Due to the possible delays in delivery some processors and suppliers are not prepared to take any risks. They have increased their prices for the new crop, despite the large carry over stocks and similar crop projections as in 2016.

Progress in the Ukraine

The harvest has also started in the Ukraine. UkrAgroConsult reports that up to 1,800 mt have so far been harvested on 1,400 ha meaning that 0.02% have been completed.

It should, however, be noted that 99% of the rapeseed harvest have already been completed. As much as 2.15 M mt have been harvested in 787,700 ha and yields are projected at 2.76 mt/ha.
