SOFIA. Delivery problems are making the prices for East European sunflower seeds rise, and at the same time, market players are expecting a record crop in Bulgaria.

Record crop expected
The fall is almost here and it is also wet and cloudy in the Bulgarian growing regions, where temperatures are expected to drop below the 20 °C mark at the end of this week – absolutely normal for this time of year. Rain is good for the seeding of rapeseed, but causes delays for the maize harvest. The sunflower seed harvest is meanwhile almost concluded. After the initial sobering results, the yields increased by 10% compared to last year. Market players are predicting a record production of 2.1-2.2 million mt.
