MADRID/SACRAMENTO. It turns out that the frost damages in California are far less extensive than previously reported. With this news in mind, there are again better chances that production will break records, due to an increase in acreage.

Growers must tighten their belts
US almonds continue to post good export figures to the EU, which leads to a steady drop in prices on the Spanish almond market. Growers in Spain do, however, not only have to deal with lower prices, they also are also struggling with subsidy reductions for nuts. The traders have therefor continued to lower their prices this week, by 0.05–0.20 EUR/kg.
