LUXEMBOURG. Spain exported fewer almonds in the first five months of the season but earned more. Germany is the top export destination.

Higher turnover

According to Eurostat, the EU’s official statistical office, Spain’s shelled almond exports showed one clear trend in the first five months of the season. Almonds have clearly become more expensive. Spain, in fact, exported 52,507 mt of shelled almonds worth EUR 355 million (USD 417 million) between August and December 2025. This marks a 14% decline in terms of volume but an 8% rise in value on the 61,306 mt worth EUR 328 million (USD 385 million) exported in the same period in 2024.

Germany tops the chart

Germany has replaced France as top destination. In terms of volume shipments may have declined by 12% but in terms of value they have risen by 23%. Similar tendencies can be observed for most countries with a few exceptions. Shipments to the Netherlands and Turkey have, for instance, dipped in terms of volume and value, whereas exports to Egypt and Greece hive risen in volume and in value. Spain mainly ships almonds to other EU member states.
