Almonds: US exports up 49% in August

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. The US almond market is off to an extremely good start in the new season. Exports and sales are up on last year.

Shipments to India double

According to the Almond of California, a total of 87,567 mt of shelled and in-shell almonds were shipped in August, a 31% rise over August 2019. While domestic shipments are up 6% year-on-year at 29,905 mt, overseas shipments have surged by 49% to 57,662 mt.

Shipments to India, which is the most important export destination, have more than doubled to 18,389 mt. Export to Italy (+70% to 3,248 mt), Germany (+27% to 3,837 mt) and Spain (+12% to 7,048 mt) are also up. The same applies to China/Hong Kong (+50% to 2,031 mt) as well as to
