MADRID. As Tioga Nut Fruit Services reports, almond blossoms have developed well in Spain. Local frost damages have, however, also occurred.

Organic production should return to normal

In the last week of March, there were a few frosty nights in the north of Spain, which may have caused some damaged. Production estimates are still to be issued, but the frost damage is not expected to be significant. However, the risk of frost still persists for another few weeks. So far, the crop has developed well and if conditions remain good organic production may improve over last year. Valencia almonds are trading lower and Marcona and Largueta in a firm range. Spot market prices for US almonds also remain unchanged for the time being.
