Almonds: production estimates differ greatly

MADRID. Almond production estimates in Spain range as far apart as 25,000 mt. Frost and fungus are, however, expected to cut production. Spot market prices in Europe have changed.

Production etimates range at 84.000-109.000

Spain's association of dried fruit and carob producers (AEOFRUSE) estimated this year's almond production at 109,364 mt (without shell basis) at the International Nut and Dried Fruit Congress in May. This falls more than 5% short of the 115,634 mt produced last year. Acreage is estimated at 607,644 ha. Other estimates, however, differ.
