Hazelnuts: new preliminary crop estimates

ORDU. Uptake for the TMO sales is slow. New crop estimates have emerged for hazelnuts. Trading slowly starts for the 2025 crop. EU spending has reached a record in the first six months of the year.

Slow uptake of TMO sales

After cancelling the tender as the expected prices were not achieved the TMO has returned to the previous sales strategy with an adjusted price of TRY 160/kg. Suppliers have started purchasing limited volumes. Market demand is still quite subdued, despite in-shell prices softening to TRY 160-180/kg last week and kernels prices to TRY 360-380/kg. Many buyers appear to be waiting for further price drops before signing up for large contracts.
