Almonds: Spain's production to increase by almost 50%

MADRID/CANBERRA. The Mesa Nacional de Frutos Secos recently published an optimistic forecast for the Spanish almond crop in 2023. Meanwhile, almond exports from Australia are once again hitting record after record.

538,353 ha of almonds in Spain

In the 2022/2023 season, Spain's almond crop suffered a record yield drop to an estimated 60,000 mt of shelled almonds due to adverse weather conditions. This year, the forecasts are much more positive, not least because around 16,000 ha of artificially irrigated acreage have been added, with the additional land being cultivated in Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia.
