MALATYA. The weekly export figures are at a similar level as last year at this time, however, the overall export volume differs significantly.

Since the beginning of the season, Turkish exporters have delivered about 74,000 mt of dried apricots to foreign countries, compared to almost 67,000 mt in mid-May 2016. This corresponds to an increase of more than 10.5%. Altogether, more than 83,500 mt of dried apricots were exported in 2015/16. The question is whether the suppliers are able to keep up the current pace until the end of the season. In this case, the exports would amount to 90,000-100,000 mt. But such a quantity is not even available for exports.

Potential price increase
After the prices dropped further last week, they were able to maintain the new level this week. It is presently uncertain if there will be surpluses from this season. Moreover, if the sales of fresh apricots are to fulfil expectations, a price increase cannot be ruled out despite the good crop predictions.
