MALATYA. The apricot growing areas surrounding Malatya were also not spared from the slight frost last week, and the market reacted with artificial shortage.

Doomed to failure

It soon became clear that holding back the goods did not have the desired effect, and the raw goods prices are still ranging between 6-8 TRY/kg. The majority of buyers are covered with contracts until the end of the season, and spot requests remain in the ball park for the time being.

The price level appears to be accordingly stable this week, whereby market players expect a decline in the coming week.

Weather is decisive

Traders report that 30,000-35,000 mt of dried apricots are still available on the market, although more than 62,000 mt have already been exported since the beginning of the season. If the weather cooperates, a high production volume can also be expected this year.
