Above-average yields were able to mitigate the production deficit in the Czech poppy seed market last year. This year, however, there is no guarantee of that. Due to unfavourable weather conditions, the area under poppy cultivation in 2022 was a good 40% smaller than last year at 26,000 ha. For the coming 2023/2024 growing season, forecasts continue to speak of a further reduction in acreage by about 30
