CHRUDIM. As the poppy seed market has witnessed an upsurge in demand in January prices have risen. Some producers are, however, still holding back in anticipation of even higher prices.

Demand remains high

Traders have been reporting an upsurge in demand for poppy seeds ever since the year started. With this ternd persisting prices have risen further. Conventional blue poppy seeds with a morphine content of <20 ppm are trading at EUR 2.26/kg FCA Czech Republic and organic white poppy seeds at EUR 3.30/kg FCA Czech Republic
