Blue poppy seeds: farmers could significantly reduce acreage

CHRUDIM. The Czech blue poppy seed market is quiet. Farmers are holding on to their prices, which they already feel are not lucrative enough. This is likely to have an impact on the acreage for the 2022/2023 season.

Sales stagnate

As is not unusual in February, the Czech blue poppy seed market is largely quiet. Traders and processors would like to offer at lower prices to generate more demand, but this is hampered by farmers who do not want to sell at a lower level. As in the previous week, prices for blue poppy seeds, <25 ppm morphine are at EUR 1.92/kg FCA Czech Republic, for blue poppy seeds with less than 10 ppm morphine at EUR 1.98/kg FCA.
