Blue poppy seeds: growers plan sowing for 2023

CHRUDIM. Above-average trading activity in January brought higher prices, while February was noticeably calmer. Growers are concretising their cultivation plans and there is currently no indication of a larger crop.

Demand is back to normal

January brought unusually high demand for Czech blue poppy seeds. Now the excitement has died down and since last week buying interest has returned to the usual level for this time of year. According to Czech market players, there was a lot of trade in the first weeks of the new year, which is why there is now speculation about how may supplies are still available on the market. Some traders estimate the remaining stocks at 10,000 mt.
