Sunflower seeds: new crop from Bulgaria to be shipped soon

SOFIA/KYIV. The US Department of Agriculture has again reduced its estimates for the global sunflower seed crop in its August report. Drought in Ukraine is one of the reasons for this. Bulgarian traders will soon begin shipping the new crop.

Global production estimates further reduced

The forecasts for Ukrainian sunflower seed production are currently sobering. Drought in the south and east of the country has caused several experts to reduce their estimates again in August. Depending on the source, expectations for the current crop now stand at 12.8-13.5 million mt. However, according to estimates by the US Department of Agriculture, this would still represent a 3.8% increase in production compared to last year.
