Blue poppy seeds: high August exports make up for September deficit

CHRUDIM. The approaching Christmas holidays are currently causing demand for Czech blue poppy seeds to rise slightly. September exports, however, were significantly lower than last year.

September exports lower than last year

The Czech Statistical Office has published the latest export data for Czech blue poppy seeds. The export plus of 40% in August ensures that the difference to last year is still showing a positive balance. September exports, however, were lower than last year. Around 2,384 mt of poppy seeds were exported from the Czech Republic in the second month of the new season, compared to 2,539 mt in September 2020.
