Blue poppy seeds: high energy costs to drive up prices

PRAGUE. Price declines are out of the question for blue poppy seeds at present. Issue is that energy and fuel prices have hit record highs in the Czech Republic. Attention is shifting towards Easter.

Easter to revive demand

Trading remains subued in the Czech Republic as traders and exporters are busy meeting deals signed in December. Demand will, however, rise again as soon as buyers require supplies for Easter. Although local traders are trying to push down prices, producers have remained unimpressed so far and prices are only nominally down.
