CHRUDIM. The Czech poppy seed market is satisfied with the production result. Further price declines are expected in the coming weeks.

Prices to fall further

The situation on the Czech blue poppy seed market has stabilised and supply and demand are in balance. With an estimated cultivation area of 36,500 hectares and higher yields than last year, the Czech Statistical Office estimates that the poppy seed crop will reach 27,000 mt this year, with market players even expecting a result of 28,000-29,000 mt. The quality of the seeds is also satisfactory.
