Blue poppy seeds: late start of harvest causes traders to hesitate

CHRUDIM. Czech poppy seed exports for the 2020/2021 season are significantly above last year's level. However, due to harvest delays, August has been much quieter than usual so far. It will take at least one to two weeks before larger quantities of the new crop are available on the market.

Russia increases June imports by 200%

Traditionally, the blue poppy seed trade is already in full swing in August. Compared to previous years, however, the start of the harvest in the Czech Republic was delayed by 2-3 weeks, and market players are now feeling the effects. Although there are still enquiries, traders are hesitant to conclude further contracts for the new crop.
