DALIAN. Buckwheat quotations are surprisingly firm in China considering that export demand is on the rise. Germany's imports from China surged by 44% in 2023.

Upturn in export demand

Buckwheat prices have stabilised over Chinese New Year. Suppliers are busy stocking up as they reckon that export demand will rise. This has, however, so far failed to drive up the market as China is also importing sufficient volumes to put a cap on prices. Hulled buckwheat quotations presently stand at USD 920/mt FOB Dalian and organic buckwheat at USD 1,010/mt FOB Dalian.
