Buckwheat: production growth in Ukraine

DALIAN/KYIV. Despite all adversities, the buckwheat crop in Ukraine turned out larger than last year. Germany's imports, meanwhile, declined by 5% year-on-year.

116,000 mt have been harvested

Buckwheat is one of the essential staple foods in Ukraine, which is why, despite all adversities, cultivation and production were increased this season. As of today, 116,000 ha of buckwheat have been harvested by Ukrainian farmers, which is 98% of the cultivated area. The average yield of 1.37 mt/ha brings total production to 158,500 mt. In contrast, only 110,700 mt were harvested last year.
