Bulgaria reduces the export of basic cereal products

For third consecutive week the exports of the main agricultural crops that Bulgaria produces remains stagnant

 According to operational data the export of wheat, barley and rapeseeds via Port of Varna - 1 remains stagnant for third consecutive week. However, the total quantity of wheat that has passed through the harbor from the beginning of the marketing 2016/17 up to now is 2.8% more than in the same period of the previous year, and amounts to 1 571 600 MT. The export of rapeseeds through the same port has even more significant growth on an annual basis - more than three times, up to 216 500 MT while the export of barley shrinks by 87.3%.

From the beginning of the current marketing year (started in September 2016) up to now via Port Bourgas JSC, operating at terminal Bourgas East – 1, 32 800 MT of wheat and 6 500 MT of barley have been exported but rapeseeds have not been registered yet. Main cereals and oil crops - maize and sunflower seeds.
Over the past week cargo of corn and sunflower seeds for export were not transported via Varna Port.
Total for the period from 01.09.2016 to 30.04.2017 the export of maize and sunflower seeds via the port was, respectively, 60.9% and 26.9% less than last year.

Prices towards 12.05.2017: the average purchase prices of fodder wheat and barley remains at the level of the previous week while those of bread wheat, sunflower seeds, maize and rapeseeds record a slight decrease between 0.7% and 3.8%. The purchase prices of sunflower seeds, wheat (bread and fodder) and maize have grown by between 5% and 15.4% on an annual basis, most sensitive to corn.
