KEMPTEN/BRUSSELS. Butter prices may have declined sharply this year but are so far failing to tempt bulk butter buyers in Germany. Wide prices gaps exist in the EU, where exports have risen to a record high.

Buyers not tempted by price declines in Germany

As the South German Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten reports milk delivers clearly exceed last year’s level. Butter and cream have been under pressure for quite a while now. Retail demand for table butter, however, continues to be very high with quotations in Kempten standing at (EUR 4.70-5.25/kg, USD 5.49-6.13/kg) and shops requiring supplies. Things are a bit different for bulk butter.
