FRANKFURT. While market players in Germany are generally satisfied with the way things are going, a dramatic price turnaround has taken place in Poland.

Satisfying demand in Germany

In Germany, demand is currently very good for bulk butter and paket butter. The rise in the January sales volumes has driven the prices for bulk butter up last week and demand is currently keeping prices firm. Another factor to be considered is that the supplies of milk fat are limited. The prices for paket butter destined for the retail market are contract bound and remain stable. The decline in butter and cheese prices, which started off in October is expected to pressurize the prices for milk products in Germany in Q1.
