Butter: Difficult price negotiations in Germany

WASHINGTON, D.C./BRUSSELS The low butter prices have noticeably stimulated export trade for butter from the EU. In Germany, however, buyers and seller are having difficulties agreeing on prices.

EU exports rise by 52%

The low butter prices in the EU are finally also making themselves felt in the export market. According to data issue by the European Commission, exports of butter to third countries increased by as much as 52% in May. Between January and May, the EU exported 62,487 mt of butter to third countries, which is 5% more than in the same period last year. The main export destinations are the USA, Japan and China.
