KEMPTEN/BRUSSELS. Germany’s current heatwave will impact milk arrivals. EU prices are not quite as attractive as in the US. EU butter exports reached a record in the first quarter of 2026.

Heatwave to slow arrivals in Germany

Consumers hit the stores and purchased table butter in the run up to the Whitsun weekend in Germany as the South German Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten reports. Although demand is very good, table butter quotations have remained firm at EUR 3.85-4.45/kg (USD 4.47-5.17/kg). Slightly increased market activity has, however, lifted the lower end of quotations for bulk butter, which is trading in a narrower range of EUR 3.85-3.95/kg (USD 4.47-4.59/kg) in Kempten. Impression is that the market is recovering from the recent lows.
