Butter: highly uncompetitive EU prices

FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. Although milk deliveries are unusually low in many producing countries, the current market situation does spell some good news for butter manufactures. Prices in Europe are, however, exceptionally high. This has impacted EU exports.

Negotiations for bulk butter

As ZMB Dairy World reports milk deliveries continued to catch up in Germany at the end of December, but still ranged around 2.4% lower than last year. The situation is similar in France, where milk deliveries were 2.8% down at the end of December. Good news, however, is that cream supplies have improved over Christmas and New Year and prices have declined in Germany.
