KEMPTEN/BRUSSELS. Summer has got its hold on butter sales in Germany. EU exports are still underperforming, and EU butter quotations are still remarkably high.

Summer lull in Germany

Sales may have slowed in Germany after the recent holidays in mid-June as the Southern German Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten reports, yet they are still good. Bulk butter quotations are firm at EUR 7.40-7.58/kg (USD 8.59-8.80/kg) in Kempten. Issue is that buyers prefer to wait and see what way prices will turn and are only purchasing limited volumes. Industrial cream has also gained. Demand is very high for table butter, which is also quoted firm at EUR 7.30-7.80/kg (USD 8.47-9.05/kg) in Kempten.
