Butter: manufacturers are not amused

FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. Butter manufacturers in Germany are far from amused with the current price trend. The slide has also continued in the EU and exports to China have declined by more than 30% between January and November 2022.

Downturn continues

Butter manufacturers are far from satisfied with the turn prices have taken. New contract negotiations are also underway in Germany, which bode no good. Bulk butter quotations have, in fact, slumped since October and the decline has accelerated this week again with bulk butter now trading in a range of EUR 4.18-4.50/kg (USD 4.55-4.90/kg) at the Southern German Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten.
