FRANKFURT/LODZ. The summer months were marked by extremely high temperatures and dryness in Germany and Poland resulting in massive crop losses. These conditions have also left their mark on the butter market.

Quality issues

Almost all regions in Germany are having to contend with the drought to varying degrees. The market has witnessed an enormous decline in the cereal crops and many farmers are already being forced to use their winter supplies to feed their animals. In addition, the quality of the feed and the contents of the milk are suffering. This has resulted rising prices for butter.

Prices are rising faster in Poland

Prices in Poland are rising faster than in Germany. Bulk butter is currently trading at 5.90 EUR/kg&n
