NEW DELHI/OTTAWA. The market in India is fairly quiet, but low stock levels are supporting prices. Globally, demand remains high, particularly for premium grades.

Premium grades are in demand

Prices for Kabuli chickpeas remain largely stable worldwide, particularly for high-quality and large-sized goods. Buyers in major importing countries continue to focus on premium grades with uniform sizing. North America remains the most important supplier on the world market, with Canada, Mexico and the USA all playing a key role. Prices for the new crop also remain stable at around USD 0.55/kg, a level being closely monitored by market players.
