NEW DELHI. Chickpea prices have surged in India. Issue is the removal of the stock limit.

Prices surge as government lifts stock limit

Last month, the government lifted the stock limit on chickpeas, leading sellers to withhold their supplies from the market. With the removal of the stock limit, chickpea prices have seen notable increases. Maharashtra's chickpeas, initially priced at USD 1,032-1,056 per quintal, have risen to USD 1,120-1,152 per quintal. Karnataka's chickpeas are now even selling at USD1,320-1,344 per quintal and maximum prices have climbed to USD 1,440-1,476 per quintal.
