Favourable vegetable prices dampen demand for chickpeas

The supply shortage on the Indian chickpea market continues, but there have been further nominal price declines on the export market. However, market experts predict prices to rise again soon. Important producing states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra report that the area under chickpea cultivation has increased due to the good prices realised this season.
