NEW DELHI. India currently holds a competitive advantage for chickpeas in the international market. Yet, the selling pressure witnessed in the initial weeks of the harvest may slow.

Initial selling pressure

Sowing across the key producing regions of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh was normal this season, resulting in an estimated production of 3.0-3.1 million mt. However, large carryover stocks kept selling pressure elevated in the initial weeks of harvest.

Competitive prices
