REUS/BRUSSELS. Higher production volumes in the US are expected to offset the decline in Canada. According to the INC, global production will therefore be roughly on a par with last year’s levels.

Canada’s crop falls to normal levels

Global production of dried cranberries is expected to be roughly on a par with the previous year in the 2026/2027 season. According to the July issue of the Nutfruit Magazine, published by the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council, favourable weather conditions in the US are set to lead to a 7% increase in production to 153,914 mt compared with last year. In Canada, however, the crop is expected to return to normal after two very productive years, which is why production will be lower, particularly in the east of the country. In total, Canada aims to produce 40,290 mt of dried cranberries this year, which would be 18% less than last year. Due to the after-effects of the hailstorms in Chile last November, the South American country is also expecting low yields.

EU imports slightly down on last year

EU imports of dried cranberries declined in the 2025/2026 season. Between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2026, a total of 39,327 mt (-2% year-on-year) worth EUR 143.21 million (-1% year-on-year) were imported. The average import price of 3.64 EUR/kg was slightly above the previous year’s level of EUR 3.61/kg.

The US remains the EU’s most important trading partner. Total shipments from the United States amounted to 18,099 mt, which is 9% less than in the previous year. Imports from Chile also fell slightly (-1% to 3,393 mt), whilst the EU increased its imports from Canada by 7% year-on-year to 17,690 mt.

Within the EU, the Netherlands is by far the largest buyer, having imported 25,793 mt of dried cranberries (-4% year-on-year) from third countries. MANILA. The coconut market remains under pressure: whilst export quotations for desiccated coconuts are stable, prices for coconut oil and Philippine copra continue to fall. At the same time, the increasing likelihood of a strong El Niño is raising the risk to coconut supplies in 2027.
