Dates: organic production gains in importance

TEHRAN. The market has witnessed considerable fluctuations in price over the last two weeks. Organic production is meanwhile gaining in importance in the Sistan and Baluchestan province. Organic dates are very much valued in Europe and in the Persian Gulf countries.

Europeans certify 3,000 hectares for organic production

The Sistan and Baluchestan province is the second largest date producing region in Iran, after Kerman. This year’s production is estimated at 232,000 metric tonnes. Acreage comprises as much as 45,670 hectares of fertile land. Buyers in Europe have certified 3,000 hectares of dryland farms for organic production.
