Dates: slump in exports to Kazakhstan

TEHRAN. Although Kazakhstan ranks among the top five export destinations for Iran’s dates, exports have slumped by 62% in the first six months of the year. Prices have also witnessed a surprising twist.

Iran loses market shares

According to official customs statistics Iran shipped 14,865 mt of dates worth USD 10.253 million to Kazakhstan between January and June. Exports, however, ranged much higher in the same period last year at 38,700 mt worth USD 16 million. Considering that shipments also ranged higher in 2020, namely at 35,000 mt worth USD 14 million, it can be stated that Iran’s shipments to Kazakhstan are remarkably low this year.
