Dried apricots: Up to 20% more expensive in 2019

MALATYA. Two months in to the new season, the Turkish dried apricot trade is in full swing. Exports are at a similar level to last year, while prices are still somewhat lower than in early October 2017.

 

Prices mainly stable

To meet customers' demands and to serve subsequent long-term contracts, exporters are increasingly stocking up on large dried apricots. This is causing prices to rise and even smaller fruits, such as dried apricots, no. 8, have become a little more expensive. In contrast, prices for medium sizes (no. 3 to no. 7) have stabilised. There may, however, be a difference of 50-250 USD/mt in the prices on offer depending on the trader. Market players expect prices for dried apricots to rise by 15-20% from January.
