MALATYA. The Turkish dried apricot market is expected to end this season with an export gain of around 10,000 mt or 11.5%, while prices are significantly higher than the last year.

Attempt to conceal blemishes
Hail and rain have left marks on the apricots. To conceal these purely visual defects, growers want to produce as little sulphured fruits as possible, 2,000 ppm is the maximum. This is the accepted limit for shipments to the EU. Other countries such as the United States allow deducted sulphur residues of up to 3,000 ppm. Therefore, there may be significant differences in price between blotchy and visually flawless fruits.
