MALATYA. Various factors, including the chaos in the Turkish financial market, have caused farmgate prices for dried apricots to reach unprecedented heights - and further increases are very likely.

Lira reaches new low

Prices on the apricot market are reaching new highs. This is especially true for farmgate prices, which are now at TRY 70-75/kg. However, factors such as well-running exports, high demand and the further devaluation of the Turkish lira are leading market players to believe that an end to the increases is not in sight; in the near future, commodity prices are expected to rise to TRY 80/kg.
