Dried apricots: concerns about the coming years

MALATYA. Following the total failure of this year's apricot crop, Fevzi Çiçek, President of the Malatya Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, is also concerned about yields in the coming years. Farmers are currently receiving their support payments.

Only small quantities

The Turkish apricot market is showing a similar picture to last week. Some buyers have started to purchase small quantities of around 5-10 mt of dried apricots; although the high prices are daunting, other countries of origin have also seen price increases and Turkish goods continue to impress with their taste and good quality. Market players expect the remaining 40,000-50,000 mt of the old crop to be sold by the end of the year and that there will be no more trading activity in the second half of the season.
