MALATYA. Despite defects in quality, small apricots were plentifully available in Turkey at the beginning of the season, with their prices also being low. A great number of traders sensed an opportunity.

 

Excessive prices for small apricots

In the Turkish dried apricot market, a curious situation has emerged. Although prices at-source have soared this week, buyers in the Eurozone are benefiting from the strong euro. In December, it became increasingly difficult to get hold of large dried apricots, which afforded a proper reprieve to prices.
