MALATYA. According to rumors, two large suppliers in Turkey have massive financial difficulties. There is a risk that these companies will go bankrupt.

 

Risky business

The prices for dried apricots have mainly stabilised. Small fluctuations still, however, occur. It is to be expected that the current price level will remain until the end of the year. The Turkish lira has slumped again and was quoted at a 2-week low on Tuesday.

This illustrates the unpredictable economic situation in Turkey and increases the risk factor for  long-term contracts. Two major Turkish apricot suppliers are rumoured to be on the verge of bankruptcy.
